Netflix has announced a new app that can stream Netflix movies and TV shows to Android devices, bringing to the platform the streaming service’s ability to be streamed to multiple Android devices simultaneously.
In a blog post, Netflix said it will soon be adding a new feature that will allow users to search for movies and show times on their phones or tablets to watch a given title on Netflix.
Netflix’s app, Netflix Go, will initially launch in the US and Canada with a rollout to other countries in the coming months.
The app’s launch will allow the service to make use of the Android’s new “remote search” feature, which lets users search through their TV listings from anywhere in the world without leaving the home screen.
That feature will also be available on Android TV, which means it will be accessible on Android phones and tablets as well as Apple TV.
Netflix Go will allow viewers to browse through their catalog of titles across multiple Android TV devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, Apple TV, Roku, Sony Smart TV, Apple Watch and Chromecast Ultra.
Users can search through the library of Netflix movies, TV shows and series through a simple swipe-up swipe on their screen.
Netflix said the new feature will work with existing users, though it will likely not be available to all Netflix users in the near future.
